Real Madrid and Peñarol will meet on 24 August in the 32nd edition of the Santiago Bernabeu Trophy in commemoration of first edition of the Intercontinental Cup final, which was won by the Spanish side.
The Madridistas won the first Intercontinental Cup on 4 September, 1960, by defeating Urugayan side Peñarol 5-1 at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium. Puskas (2), Di Stefano, Herrera and Gento scored for Real Madrid. Both sides will clash again 50 years after the historic match in the 30th edition of the Santiago Bernabeu Trophy.
Real Madrid have won two other Intercontinental Cup titles, in 1998 against Vasco Gama (2-1) and in 2002 against Olimpia Asuncion (2-0).
