The Real Madrid Foundation and the Make-A-Wish Foundation Spain have been working together since 2002. Both parties signed a deal today so that children with life-threatening illnesses who reside outside the country can meet their favorite Real Madrid players.
"Any group that suffers must be taken care of not only by public authorities, but by private entities as well," said Real Madrid Foundation director, Julio Gonzalez Ronco, "We have always worked with terminally ill children to help them make their dreams come true. We want them to feel the magic of the Bernabeu and Real Madrid for example, and that is why we contribute our two cents. Illness has a now. Yesterday is history and tomorrow is a mystery. The now is a gift, why is why it is called the present. The gift that we can provide is to fulfill a dream if it is related to Real Madrid."
Also on hand were Jon Stettner, President and CEO of Make-A-Wish International and Tania Raussel Tamayo, President of Make-A-Wish Spain, the latter who added, "Real Madrid has given much more than support since we began working together in 2002. This is a club of champions and these children and their families feel like champions when with Real Madrid. They want to wake up asking, "Why won't I be able to find myself face-to-face with Cristiano Ronaldo one day?" Excitement has the incredible power to transform the lives of people."
