Luis Molowny Arbelo died on Friday 12 February at the age of 84. Born in Santa Cruz de Tenerife on 12 May 1925, Molowny played for Real Madrid for ten seasons (1946/47 to 1955/56), coached the first team on numerous occasions (1974, 1977-1979, 1982 and 1985/86) and served as the club's sporting director (1986-1990). As a player he won two league titles, one European Cup and one Spanish Cup and as a coach won three league titles, two European Cups and two Spanish Cups.

One of Madridismo's all-time legeneds, Luis Molowny, has passed away

Luis Molowny Arbelo died on Friday 12 February at the age of 84. Born in Santa Cruz de Tenerife on 12 May 1925, Molowny played for Real Madrid for ten seasons (1946/47 to 1955/56), coached the first team on numerous occasions (1974, 1977-1979, 1982 and 1985/86) and served as the club's sporting director (1986-1990). As a player he won two league titles, one European Cup and one Spanish Cup and as a coach won three league titles, two European Cups and two Spanish Cups. 

Luis Molowny's remains lie at the San Miguel de Las Palmas Mortuary in Gran Canaria. His funeral will take place tonight at 23:00 CET and will be attended by the Director of Institutional Relations, Emilio Butragueño and Amancio Amaro.

Real Madrid players will wear a black armband in Molowny's honor during tonight's match against Xerez.
