Real Madrid and Audi once again reasserted the fruitful relationship they've been having since 2003. As part of the sponsorship deal between both entities, the first football team squad -save for Lass Diarra, who is still in France with permission from the Club- received the keys to their new Audi cars for the 2009/10 season. The act took place at Madrid Snowzone, the longest indoor ski slope in Europe. Real Madrid President Florentino Perez, Audi Spain Director Manuel Caballero, Volkswagen Vice-President Francisco Garcia Sanz and alpine ski world champion Aksel Lund Svindal attended the event.
Precision, innovation and elegance are three of the values shared by two great entities like Real Madrid and Audi.
Before the cars were handed out, the players had lessons on how to drive on snow. Following the theory lesson, Higuain, Kaka, Granero, Diarra and Van Nistelrooy took part in some of the most entertaining tests the cars were subjected to. "It's been a new, difficult and great experience," said Kaka after getting one of the vehicles stuck in the snow.
Manuel Caballero was the first to "thank the players for their collaboration" and wish the team "the greatest of success." Florentino Perez expressed his satisfaction with "a fruitful relationship that has existed since 2003. Audi is a company that values technology, precision, sportsmanship and elegance, values it shares with Real Madrid and that make our partnership a success."
Aksel Lund Svindal descended one of the principal ski tracks with a rucksack holding car keys. The world champion gave Raul a signed competition shirt, while the captain in turn gave him a personalised Real Madrid shirt.
