By signing Kaka, Cristiano Ronaldo and Benzema, Real Madrid have united the top three players of their respective former leagues.
When Real Madrid officially announced the signing of Kaka, everyone knew the club would be acquiring the services of one of the best players on the planet. Kaka is the leader of the Brazilian national team and in 2007 collected the Ballon d'Or, FIFPro World Player and FIFA World Player of the Year honors. But his arrival also entails that of the best player of the Italian Calcio, and perhaps its best foreign poster child as well.
Cristiano Ronaldo was the second to be announced. The Portuguese is currently the best player on Earth (Ballon d'Or, FIFPro World Player and FIFA World Player of the Year 2008) and one of the main reasons why the Premier League is now considered the best football league around.
And finally, Karim Benzema. France's Ligue 1 is one echelon below the Premier League, Calcio and La Liga, but Benzema was its most-prized player both nationally and abroad. It was easy to see that his progress would have been hampered had he continued playing on his home turf, so by acquiring the Frenchman, Real Madrid has united the top players of the Italian, Premier and French leagues.
