Before entering, Raul commented on the four previous times he had entered the visitors' dressing room. "With Quique, Koeman and twice with Unai. Once for La Liga and the other for the Super Cup," said Albiol. After being greeted by president Florentino Perez and Director General, Jorge Valdano, Albiol exchanged his suit for the kit he hopes to wear for many years to come. He was surprised to see the date, "2 July 2009" just below the crest, commemorating the day of his unveiling.

Similar to what Kaka went through, Albiol was subjected to an intense photo session that included poses with the ball, team scarf and several shirts with his name written in several languages. Albiol maintained his sense of humor throughout. When someone suggested he tuck in his shirt, he replied, "Who are you, the referee?"

Once the session ended and with everything set for the presentation, Raul heard the far-off cheers from the fans waiting inside the stadium. He was happy and looking forward to the special moment. Five minutes later, and once on the pitch, he greeted the crowd and thanked everyone for the confidence placed in him.
