The signing of Cristiano Ronaldo would be "a sound business operation." This is one of the conclusions drawn from an interesting article published in financial newspaper Cinco Dias.
"This system works," says marketing expert and Esade teacher Gerard Costa, who believes Real Madrid would be wise to sign Cristiano Ronaldo. The combination of a great football player and Real Madrid is highly profitable and "a sound business operation," as proven by the transfer of David Beckham, which increased the Club's merchandising sales 137%.
The sum of the social impact Real Madrid has and the one the footballer generates makes the signing "very affordable." Despite the high sum of the transfer, the Club would "instantly" have greater income from publicity, marketing, broadcasting games...
The presence of other football stars on the team is also important. Kaka and Ronaldo alone could generate as much as 124 million euros in merchandising and shirt sales together, according to a Weber Shandwick Sport report.
