Real Madrid's latest signing, Kennedy Winston, has had a long and successful career despite being only 24 years old. The small forward is nearly two meters tall and has experience in strong competitions such as the Greek league. His previous Spanish stint was at Gran Canaria in the 2005/06 season.
Kennedy Lawrence Winston began his career in Alabama's Mattie T. Blount High School. His NCAA run began in 2002 at Alabama University and he stayed there for three years, becoming the team's top-scorer in the latter two and joining SEC's first team at the end of the season. He became the top-scorer of the NCAA's SEC in 2004/05 with an average 17.9 points per game. Winston then signed as free agent for Memphis Grizzlies in September 2005, but he left the team in November before making his debut.
His next team was Spanish club Gran Canaria, where he averaged 9.1 points, 2.2 rebounds and 19 minutes of playing time per clash in the 2005/06 season. He then went to the Greek league and signed for Panionios, with whom he had a great season, averaging 14.9 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2 assists, 1.2 steals and 32 minutes of playing time per clash. These impressive figures helped him sign for Panathinaikos.
Winston averaged 8 points, 3.2 rebounds and 19 minutes of playing time in the regular season with his new team, as well as 5.9 points, 2.6 rebounds and 16 minutes of playing time in the playoffs. He won the league title and the Cup of Greece with Panathinaikos, but was eliminated in the quarterfinals of the Euroleague by Partizan Belgrade.
