Casillas and Nadal are two of Spain's best athletes and have helped place the country among the elite in the world of sports. Role models to young and old alike, they have joined forces to promote the battle against malaria.
They are two of the top sportsmen year after year. Iker Casillas is Europe's reigning champion, reigning 07/08 league champion and among the favorites to win the Balon d'Or. Rafa Nadal is the reigning Roland Garros and Wimbledon champion, the top ranked tennis player in the world and an Olympic gold medal winner among many other achievements. They are two of Spain's most standout athletes and are deeply loved by Spaniards. “This was a great and important year for Spain,” commented Rafa Nadal. “Seeing how many Spaniards were in attendance at all the events I participated in, it's obvious that they have a lot to boast about,” added Iker Casillas.
A year in which Spain won the Euro, 18 medals at he Beijing Olympic Games, the Davis Cup, individual tournaments such as Roland Garros, Wimbledon by Rafa Nadal, the Giro de Italia, Vuelta a España (Alberto Contador) and the list goes on. “For us as fans, we are proud to have all this sport and all these athletes. We are a powerhouse and we are proud to be a part of it,” concluded Nadal.
