Derby preparations are still underway despite the absence of most internationals. Fernando Gago again trained with the squad, and Diarra, Guti and Robben stayed in the gymnasium. Real Madrid Castilla's Adán, Gary and Tébar were invited to participate with the first team.
Bernd Schuster had 15 men on hand for Wednesday's workout, among whom were Real Madrid Castilla's Adán, Gary and Marcos Tébar, who sit atop their Second Division B table and defend their lead on Sunday against UD Fuerteventura.
The session began with a light jog followed by running drills, while Codina, Dudek and Adán worked out with Pedro Jaro on an adjoining field. After the jog, Jordi García gathered the twelve players for stretching exercises and sit-ups. Bernd Schuster then joined his troops in a game of keep-away.
Fernando Gago was back in action for the second straight day and showed no signs of discomfort. He is ready to compete in Saturday's derby should the coach deem it necessary. Guti, Diarra and Arjen Robben remained indoors in an attempt to recover in time for Saturday.
Schuster will have his internationals available as of tomorrow, at which point Real Madrid have two sessions to iron out any kinks prior to squaring off against Atletico.
