After two weeks of work, Real Madrid are on their way home to continue training before traveling to Colombia. The 14-day journey concluded with the Emirates Cup in London against Hamburg, Arsenal, and Juventus.
Cannavaro nearly recovered
Fabio Cannavaro was hurt prior to the Euro and spent the entire first stage of the preseason recovering from his injured left ankle. The rehab process was primarily centered in the gymnasium, but the Italian was able to get some touches on the ball by the time the two weeks were up.
Robinho and Pepe cleared
The Brazilian and Portuguese spent most of the preseason training on their own. Pepe had suffered a bruise in the early days in Austria, while Robinho returned to Real Madrid camp with a niggled groin. The latter has completely recovered and was able to participate in the Emirates Cup.
Internationals
Casillas, Ramos, De la Red, and Metzelder returned from Euro duty on 28 July and have been concentrating on individual fitness protocols. The only player to see action in the Emirates Cup was Rubén de la Red, who played the second half against Arsenal.
Sneijder
The Dutch midfielder suffered a severe injury to his left knee ligaments after a heavy tackle against Arsenal. The player will undergo further tests upon returning to the Spanish capital to determine the extent of the damage.
