An untimely injury kept him sidelined for Euro 2008, but Fabio Cannavaro has been rehabing ever since and is looking forward to rejoining his squad mates in the Algarve.
“I've been working with several physiotherapists and my recovery is coming along nicely. I will accompany my teammates to the Algarve and then take part in preseason training. I don't know if I will be able to train at the same rhythm as the rest of the squad, but I do feel pretty good. I was very lucky.”
“I was very happy to see Spain win the Euro. They played extremely well and deserved to win, although here in Italy we say they won all their matches except the one against us. They did play very well and I am happy for my teammates. Now we have European and world champions on the team. It's great for Real Madrid.”
“We've won the last two leagues, which means we must be doing something right. Now we have to begin believing we can win the Champions League. I think it's every player's goal. We're going to work hard to bring it home. I have never won it, but I know how happy I would be if I did.”
“We have a solid team and we proved it last season by remaining top throughout the year. We played consistent football and we'll only get stronger. We want to do better in Europe, so hopefully we'll have a little luck on our side.”
“I miss contact with the ball. I didn't play in the Euro and I am anxious to return to competition.”
“All I think about is fulfilling my contract with Real Madrid. I am happy with the team and the city. My kids are in school there and they are happy. The club has an ambitious project and I feel cared for by the fans. Time will tell where I end my career, but for now I'm staying put with Real Madrid. I am eager to win."
