Real Madrid basketball has kept busy over the summer by restructuring a squad built for success. With Joan Plaza at the helm for the third year running, the project has now come full swing. All that was needed was a few fresh faces. While the sun has set in the Spanish capital for a few players, others like Marko Tomas return from sensational seasons spent with other teams.
The first decision taken by Antonio Martín and Alberto Herreros shortly after the 2007/08 season had concluded was the bring Marko Tomas back to Vistalegre after spending one year with Alta Gestión Fuenlabrada.
It didn't take long before the club signed its first new player, and on 21 May the MVP of last year's Euroleague, Jeremiah Massey was introduced.
No further news came out of Madridista camp until July, when another MVP, this one from the Turkish league, joined the Real Madrid family. Quinton Hosley, a 24-year old forward out of Fresno State. One day later, it was announced that Pepe Sánchez, Argentine international and ACB veteran, had landed in Madrid as the team's third point guard.
