The Netherlands is one of the star teams in Euro 2008 with their impressive victories over important teams like France and Italy. Sneijder, Robben and Van Nistelrooy represent Real Madrid on the squad.
Sneijder
"Our figures are impressive and allow us to think big. We've scored seven goals and conceded only one against two strong opponents. I think the Netherlands has finally rid itself of previous inferiority complexes. Despite our quality, we always used to look at our opponents as if they were better. We used to exaggerate their virtues, probably not realising we were much better. That's over now. Even I am surprised with our good results. I expected to win, but not like this."
"I love the atmosphere on the squad during the championship. It is very similar to the comradeship at Real Madrid. It didn't used to be this good. We are more united now; even the young players on the team speak up. We get together on our days off. That helps us on the pitch."
"We haven't won anything yet, but we've earned the respect of our opponents. The Netherlands is good enough to win the championship. We believe we can make it and we just might if we carry on this way. The coach has changed his scheme in every game, proving we can play in very different styles. Robben was fantastic against Italy in the second half. He deserved a great victory like that after all he's suffered. We understand each other very well. He is also delighted."
Robben
"I am very happy. The match against France was incredible. We played brilliantly against them and Italy, two great teams. I felt great. If anyone had told me a week ago we would win like this I would have sworn he was crazy."
Van Nistelrooy
"The match against France was amazing. I didn't score and felt incredibly great, which means the game was terrific. The team is working very hard and playing well. We always find a solution to the problems our opponents may give us."
