José Araquistáín, who left Real Socieded for Real Madrid in 1960/61, played in the Spanish capital for seven seasons and won six league titles, one Copa del Rey, and one Zamora Trophy.
1. Why does Iker Casillas deserve the trophy?
He had a great, consistent season. He was in great form all year and really had some stellar moments. He deserved it after years of hard work.
2. What are his best attributes?
He's a very serene guy with every quality you look for, but what stands out most is his maturity and tranquility. I think he's a leader in the dressing room and an idol for fans as well.
3. Can you picture Casillas winning the Balon d'Or?
It's complicated, but why not? If any goalkeeper deserves it, it's Iker. If he does well in the Euro after the season he had, I think he's a perfect candidate.
4. Who do you think is the best keeper in the history of Real Madrid?
Real Madrid has always had an academy full of keepers, and even if they didn't come from the academy, they have always been among the best. The same goes for every other position. I am sure Casillas will make more history with Real Madrid than any other keeper.
5. What does winning the Zamora mean to a keeper?
It's very nice and very important. It's a huge honor, but the squad is also largely responsible. Titles won as a team are what really count.
