An untimely left ankle injury will keep Fabio Cannavaro out of the Euro, "possibly the last of his career," as he himself stated during a press conference from Italian team camp in Oberwaltersdorf, Austria. Over the last 24 hours Cannavaro has received an endless display of support and encouragement from Real Madrid. From the President to the players, everyone has been worried about Fabio's state of health. Meanwhile, earlier this morning Real Madrid's chief medic Dr. Alfonso de Corral arrived at Italy's camp where tomorrow he will supervise the Real Madrid international's surgery.
Fabio Cannavaro:
"From Ramón Calderón to Iker Casillas, everyone has called me. I am grateful for everybody's support; all of those who have called or sent messages from the club. My goal now is to be up and running soon and to make a full return in two months."
“When Iker called I told him that Spain now has a better chance of winning the competition. Casillas cheered me up and wants me to recover to see me back with Madrid as soon as possible."
