Padrós was the Club’s first official President, taking office on 6 March 1902, the same day the Club and Madrid football were officially born. The authorities officially approved the creation of the entity on 22 March. The Club’s rules and regulations were also drawn up on 6 March. Two months later, on 13 May, the Whites played Barcelona for the first time and lost 3-1.
Members of Real Madrid’s first Board included Juan Padrós Rubio (President), Enrique Varela (Vice-President), Manuel Mendía (Secretary), José de Gorostizaga (Treasurer), Antonio S. Neyra, Mario Giralt, Carlos Mertens, Álvaro Spottorno, and Arturo Meléndez (all Voting Members). They decided that the team’s official kit would replicate that of London side Corinthians: white shirt and shorts, blue cap and socks, a purple sash and a colourful badge.
