Felipe Reyes has become a giant among giants since joining Real Madrid in 2004. The center has since graced Spanish basketball with his drive and determination, earning him the title of heir-apparent to Madridista legend, Fernando Martín.

Basketball was his calling Felipe Reyes was born on March 16, 1980 in Córdoba, Spain and he knew basketball was his game ever since he was a child. Real Madrid’s current captain was a stand-out player as a kid, as his perseverance now is just as strong as it was then.

Reyes developed his game at Ramiro de Maetzu Institute, where he first saw considerable playing time at the age of 18. One year later, he became a key piece of the Estudiantes squad that went on to win the Copa del Rey in 2000. His meteoric success opened the door to the Spanish national team, with whom he debuted on August 17, 2001 against Israel.

In 2004 Reyes joined Real Madrid, becoming the most expensive signing in club history. He capped off his first season with an ACB title in one of the most memorable Playoff games in history.

Felipe became a worldwide household name in 2006 when Spain won the World Championship in Japan. Despite playing injured, he contributed 10 important points in the Reds dismantling of Greece.
With a gold medal hanging from his neck, Reyes returned to Real Madrid for an historic season which included the ULEB Cup and another ACB title. The Madridista center was named MVP of the Final against Barcelona, again proving why he is the great captain.
