Seven Madridistas were in action on Wednesday with their respective national teams. The Netherlands maintained their form with a victory against Norway, Portugal drew against Estonia, Kaka led the turnaround for Brazil and Argentina lost with Heinze and Gago as starters.

Gago & Heinze
Argentina suffered a major setback in qualifying for the 2010 World Cup by losing 2-0 to Ecuador. Goals by Walter Ayovi (m.71) and Pablo Palacios (m.83) handed the hosts the victory, while Gabi Heinze captained the Albiceleste onto the field and Fernando Gago was also in the starting lineup.

Kaka
Brazil is now sole leader in South America alter defeating Paraguay 2-1 inRecife. Brasil se hizo con el liderato en solitario tras derrotar a Paraguay (2-1). Robinho (40 m.) and Nilmar (49 m.) answered the early goal by Salvador Cabañas (25 m.). Real  Madrid’s new midfielder, Kaka, initiated the play that ended with Robinho’s finish just minutes before halftime.

Robben, Van der Vaart & Huntelaar
Goals by Real Madrid’s Arjen Robben and Blackburn Rovers’ Andre Ooijer eliminated Norway from World Cup 2010 contention as the Netherlands cruised to another victory. Van der Vaart provided the assist for the first score of the night, while Huntelaar came on with eight minutes left in regulation.

Pepe
Portugal drew 0-0 against Estonia in a friendly that neither team managed to create quality scoring opportunities. Pepe did not start but saw second-half action.
