Real Madrid's final home match of the season was also Gonzalo Higuain's 100th as a Madridista; a statistic that only reflects the increasing influence the Argentine has on the team.
Higuain's 21 goals in La Liga this season make him the top-scorer at Real Madrid and place him among the top ten of Spain's Primera Division. What's more, they have accounted for 22 of Real's points so far this year with one match to play.
Equally impressive is the fact that Higuain is also the team's top assist-man having provided nine passes that have resulted in goals.
The Bernabeu has been the striker's best ally. Seventeen of his 21 goals were scored on his home turf, where fans have been treated to game-winning goals against teams of the likes of Valencia, Racing, Malaga and Getafe.
