Royston Drenthe was born in Rotterdam, Holland, 22 years ago today. Bred in Feyenoord's prestigious academy, the Dutch player is a diamond in the rough at Real Madrid. His great technique, speed, power and dribbling skills are partly a product of his great devotion for mentor Edgar Davids. These qualities helped Royston earn Best Player honours in the 2007 Under-21 Euro, which was the springboard to make his dream of signing for Real Madrid come true. His debut with the Whites couldn't have been better; he scored an amaizing goal 30 meteres away from target. Drenthe played for the Netherlands in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, and has so far played in 23 Real Madrid games this season (16 in La Liga, 5 in the Champions League, 2 in the King's Cup).
