D’or Fischer, the 6’11” center who last played for Maccabi Tel Aviv, was unveiled in the Press Room of the Santiago Bernabeu on Tuesday as the newest member of the Real Madrid basketball team. Minutes prior to his presentation, the American inked a two-year deal through the 2011/12 season with the club.
D'or Fischer:
"This is a wonderful opportunity with a magnificent club like Real Madrid. I will give 110% to help this team win as many titles as possible. Baskettball is my life and I cannot wait to start practicing with my new teammates. My three best traits are my athleticism, rebounding skills and intimidation."
"I believe I am at the peak of my career. I have played for teams in Belgium, Israel... And I have always shown how good I can be. I now have more experience under my belt and I have always been able to adapt to what my coaches have asked of me."
"Moving to Madrid is one of the best decisions I have ever made, on both a personal and professional level. It didn't take long for me to decide after I received the first call. I was thrilled with the idea of playing here and to play for the best coach in Europe, Ettore Messina."
"This is going to be a great season and the fans are going to enjoy watching this new project take off."
Director of Basketball, Juan Carlos Sanchez Lazaro:
"D'or Fischer drastically improves our presence in the zone."
