Real Madrid presented Lithuanian basketball player Darjus Lavrinovic this afternoon at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium. The player said he feels proud for joining "one of the best teams in Europe."
Are you happy about signing for Real Madrid, who's game in the zone will be one of the best in Europe with your help?
I am very happy to help out on one of the most important teams in Europe. This is an important step and a great challenge in my career. I will do all it takes to win as many titles as I can. I want to thank the Club for the faith it has in me.
Do you think there will be much competition on the squad? This is the first time you will play in a very strong league...
I think the ACB is the strongest league in Europe and that motivates me even more. I am anxious for the championship to start. I don't think competition on the squad will be a problem; we will all work together to achieve our collective goals.
Real Madrid have had great Lithuanian players in the past, such as Sabonis. Have you spoken to any of them?
I haven't spoken to Sabonis, but I have talked to other Lithuanians who have played in the ACB and they've all congratulated me. I have great references of this competition.
Have you been in touch with Messina before your arrival?
I haven't spoken to him, but it motivates me to have him as my coach at Real Madrid. I'm sure we'll have a great season.
You've always performed very well against teams coached by Messina. Do you think they've influenced his decision to sign you?
I don't know, but if that's so, I am grateful to Messina. I hope I can help the team this campaign.
What will you bring to the team?
I will do my best to help Real Madrid achieve its goals. I prefer others to talk about me.
Why did you choose Real Madrid? Which titles do you think you can win with the Whites?
I think we can win many titles on this team and we will do our best to do so. A great team like Real Madrid always aspires to reach sky-high.
