The plans for Real Madrid basketball are taking shape. Antonio Maceiras has been named Director of Basketball Operations, and Ettore Messina, a four-time Euroleague winner, has been brought in as head coach for the next three seasons. The first player signed under the new project was Novica Velickovic, who left Partizan to ink a two-year deal with the Whites. The 22-year old Serbian was named the 'Rising Star' of the 2008/09 Euroleague, Darjus Lavrinovic is Real Madrid's second newcomer for 2009/10. The Lithuanian forward/center arrived from Dynamo Moscow and has extensive international experience. The next to arrive was the American, Travis Hansen, who was most recently followed by Rimantas Kaukenas, Jorge Garbajosa, Sergi Vidal, Pablo Prigioni, Vladimir Dasic, Marko Jaric, Ante Tomic and Morris Almond.
