Cristiano Ronaldo received stitches on his right ankle after the match due to a harsh tackle. The Portuguese forward and Karim Benzema shared their views on the match in Zagreb.
Cristiano Ronaldo
"It's important to have a good start in the Champions League. We are very happy with three points we took, but I'm not so satisfied with the refereeing. I hope we never have this referee again. People talk of fair-play, of protecting good players, but I never get any of that. I don't understand a thing. I'm sad because I hear referees saying they will protect skilful players, but while some are untouchable it seems I can be mauled."
Karim Benzema
"We took three points in a difficult away match. I hope we can do something great this year, but we have to take things slowly. Winning today is what really mattered."
"I hope Cristiano recovers soon. I saw him suffer. The referee did a very bad job. We don't understand why Marcelo saw a red card and Leko didn't."
