It only seems like yesterday when David Beckham was working out with the rest of the players at Valdebebas. Three years after his departure, Antena 3 caught up with him in Los Angeles, where he offered his opinion on the current Real Madrid side, Jose Mourinho and who he feels should win the FIFA Ballon d'Or.
"As much as I respect Barcelona and think it’s a great club, my heart is always with Real Madrid. I think this year, with the manager they have, Florentino Perez … I love Florentino. He is such a great man. He makes special things happen at the club. With him there and the players that they’ve got, I believe they will be number one this year."
"As a manager, I love Mourinho. As a person he is incredible. He was one of the first people to send me a message after my injury. He’s an amazing man and such a talent."
"I would give the Ballon d’Or to Iker because he’s my friend. Spending time at Real Madrid I was able to have some great relationships and Iker was always one of the best. And Raul, too, of course. Being a part of Real Madrid… We had so many great players on the team. I love living in Los Angeles, but I had such an amazing time in Madrid. It was a shame it ended because I loved playing for the club and I love the people there. Like I said, I miss it."
