After signing a three year contract extension, Felipe Reyes discussed what Real Madrid has meant to him and he thanked the club for the commitment shown.

Three more years as a Madridista. Did your wish come true?

I am very happy because it is exactly what I wanted. They have treated me so well here, so I would like to thank Real Madrid and the president for their commitment to me and the basketball team. I hope I can return the favor with a solid season.

What made you want to extend your contract?

The main reason is because I feel a strong connection with the club and fans. My previous six years here have been unforgettable and I wanted to stay here. I am thrilled.

The club continues to believe in this team and it continues supporting the basketball section.

Real Madrid isn't just a football club. It is clear the club also thinks about its basketball section. I feel very comfortable here and am thrilled with the way I have been treated over all these years.

Did you expect your career here to be so successful when you signed on six seasons ago?

Every players who signs with Real Madrid thinks about playing well and winning as many titles as possible. When I first signed on it was to win and to develop. I think I have done both since. I am pleased with my work over the last few years. It is hard to play in the same place for so long and I hope the next three years are just as successful.

How did you deal with such a hard season during which you were plagued by injury?

It was my worst season in terms of injuries. Athletes hate being injured because they can take their toll. I had several back-to-back injuries this year and wasn't able to get into a rhythm. My contract was also coming to an end, so it was very hard from a pyschological standpoint as well.

Even then you had the best performance index rating of the team.

I don't pay attention to stats. I am pleased with the way I played during such a tough season and I hope I remain injury free over the next three years.

Three more years that begin with a new home: the Magic Box.

We are looking forward to our first game there. It is a nice arena and the players will have every amenity you can think of from a gym to a modern locker room. We hope the fans turn out like they did at Vistalegre.

What expectations do you have for Spain in the World Championship?

We are going to compete for the medals. We know the gold will be hard to win, but we are a competitive team that likes to play. The United States will be the team to beat despite their many absences. We won't have Pau Gasol, but we still want to do well.

Sergio Llull and Jorge Garbajosa will be joining you on the national team.

I think it's important to play alongside teammates. Jorge and I have a special relationship because we've played together for many years. It will be my second year with Sergio Llull. They are my friends and I look forward to spending time with them and the other players.

What do you want out of the next three seasons?

I want to remain injury free and to win titles. Anyone who plays for Real Madrid has to reach for the stars. I want to have successful seasons so that I can contribute to this team accomplishing its goals.

Would you like to finish your career playing for Real Madrid?

Of course. I would love for this to be the last team I play for. I will be 33 when my contract expires, but I would like to end my career here.
