Pablo Laso and Sergio Llull talked about winning the Copa del Rey in an exclusive interview with RealmadridTV.
Laso
"People thank us for winning, but this title belongs to all Madridismo. We didn't expect to see so many people at Madrid's Barajas airport upon landing, but people were very excited to win this title after so many years."
"My men knew what they had to do after playing the championship for three days, so I just tried to instill in them what I felt when I won the title as a player. They were very focused and I didn't need to tell them about what they were already thinking. It's important to be convinced of being able to win, and they were. If there's anything I should be proud of is of making them believe they could win. It was an easy game to coach because everything was working out. My men did everything we asked, so I was very calm."
"I'm too old to jump like that in celebration! I'm very happy because I also won the Copa as a player and I knew what my players were feeling... I think they have a moment that belongs just to them, that they should enjoy together, so that's why I was the first to leave the court. I then wanted to spend some time alone with them to chat and congratulate them for a job well done."
"We have a good coaching staff. You work to win a final from the very first practice session. Our players are recovering well this season. The easy thing would be to continue celebrating this title, but winning is implicit with Real Madrid. It's important that the players know what they must do to win now. Defeats help, but victories do too."
Llull
"I was very concentrated and motivated. We've played many finals and were even thrashed in some. I was really looking forward to winning it. I did well and did my job as best I could, but it didn't sink in that we'd won until I saw the President enter the dressing room. I was so tense and concentrated after all these years that I wasn't even thinking about the victory."
"It was a perfect night. The game was great and we celebrated with our fans 19 years after winning the title the last time. We were incredibly happy. The stands were screaming and our fans spurred us to give a great performance in the final period. We played very well and won the Copa as a true team."
