Spain needed a win over Ireland and got one with a shower of goals in a match that saw Casillas, Arbeloa, Ramos and Alonso start. The latter came off in the 64th minute, while the rest lasted the entire clash. Torres opened the score and netted another strike in the second half. Silva and Fabregas tallied the rest. Alonso and Arbeloa gave excellent performances and connected well in diagonals - the latter served excellent balls to the strikers. Casillas and Ramos hardly experienced any trouble from the Irish.
