The match against CSKA Moscow will be Real Madrid's tenth official fixture in Russia, previously earning two victories, three draws and four defeats. Real defeated Zenit 2-1 in their last match in the country in the 2008/09 season.
The Whites' first match in Russia was set to be held in March 1981, but due to harsh weather conditions it took place in Georgia, when both countries were part of the USSR. It was a European Cup fixture with Spartak Moscow that ended 0-0. Both teams met again in Moscow in 1991, also drawing 0-0. Real were unable to win against Lokomotiv in their seventh clash in Russia in the 2002/03 UCL group stage.
The Madridistas have tallied eight goals and conceded 11 in Russian fixtures. Ivan Zamorano scored two strikes in the Russian capital, while Hierro, Sandro, Raul, Ronaldo and Van Nistelrooy netted one each. Zenit's Hubocan completes the list with an own goal.
Real are superior overall, winning nine, drawing four and losing five of their 18 games against Russian sides, and only one of their defeats happened at the Bernabeu. The Whites have also managed to win three of their four ties with Russian teams.
